Eligibility Criteria
1. PGT (Post Graduate Teacher)
- Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must have completed Post-Graduation in the relevant subject.
- Professional Qualification:
- Must possess a B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) degree.
2. TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher)
- Educational Qualification:
- Must have a Graduation degree in the relevant subject.
- Professional Qualification:
- A B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) degree is required.
3. PRT (Primary Teacher)
- Educational Qualification:
- Graduation in any discipline.
- Professional Qualification:
- Must have completed a two-year D.El.Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education) or B.El.Ed. (Bachelor of Elementary Education).
- OR
Candidates with a B.Ed. degree can also apply if they fulfill the condition of completing a 6-month PDPET (Professional Development Programme for Elementary Teachers)/Bridge Course. This course must be taken from an NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education)-recognized institution within two years of recruitment or as soon as the course is available.
Selection Process
The selection process consists of the following steps:
1. Computer-Based Online Screening Test
This is the first stage of the selection process. Candidates who qualify in this test will be called for the next stage. The test will be conducted at various examination centers across India.
2. Interview
Candidates who pass the screening test will be shortlisted for a personal interview. The interview process will assess the candidate’s subject knowledge, communication skills, and suitability for the teaching profession.
3. Evaluation of Teaching Skills (Where applicable)
For certain teaching posts, there may also be an evaluation of teaching skills, which could include a demo class or practical teaching session.

1. PGT/TGT Examination Pattern
- Mode: Online (Computer-Based Test)
- Duration: 180 minutes (3 hours)
- Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
- Sections:
- Part A: General Awareness, Mental Ability, English Comprehension, Educational Concepts, and Methodology.
- Part B: Subject-specific (relevant to the post applied for).
2. PRT Examination Pattern
- Mode: Online (Computer-Based Test)
- Duration: 90 minutes (1.5 hours)
- Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
- Sections:
- General Awareness, Mental Ability, English Comprehension, Educational Concepts, and Methodology.
Scoring:
- Each correct answer will carry 1 mark.
- There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
Exam Centers
- Candidates can choose their preferred exam centers from the list provided during the online application.
- In Tamil Nadu: The exam center is Chennai.
